About the position

The I&C Systems Design Engineer is responsible for the design and analysis of Instrumentation and Control (I&C) systems specifically for nuclear power plant applications. This role involves supporting GE's BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactor and Gen-IV reactor technologies, ensuring compliance with nuclear regulatory standards throughout the design and implementation phases.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop I&C systems from conceptual through detailed design, fabrication, assembly, production testing, validation testing, site installation, start-up testing, and commissioning.
  • Perform design activities ensuring compliance with nuclear regulatory design certification and plant licensing requirements.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to define and achieve functional, performance, reliability, availability, and maintainability (RAM) targets.
  • Work with system supplier teams to develop and review test plans, procedures, and reports for various testing phases including factory and site acceptance tests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum 4 months of experience in industrial Instrumentation and control, including nuclear, power, process, marine, oil & gas, military, aerospace, medical, or pharmaceutical sectors.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with application, requisition, or field engineering in mid-tier PLCs or top-tier DCS.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in nuclear analog and digital instrumentation, control, and monitoring.
  • Knowledge of safety-related systems, hardware, software, and environmental qualification testing.
  • Experience in DCS or PLC application and support engineering for high reliability systems.
