About the position

The BYG-1 Submarine Combat Systems Technician at Amentum is responsible for providing technical evaluation and corrective actions for submarine combat systems. This role involves assisting in the installation, maintenance, repair, and testing of combat control systems on submarines, ensuring compliance with Navy Maintenance Procedures and engineering specifications. The technician will also support engineering tasks and interface directly with customers during equipment installation and testing.

Responsibilities

  • Install, monitor, and service equipment and systems at Company and client sites.
  • Assist with test and evaluation, checkout, certification tasks, and perform validations/verifications of various electronic systems.
  • Review change proposals for equipment impacts and assist in accomplishing Engineering Change Instructions.
  • Develop technical/engineering data for Planned Maintenance Systems, technical manuals, troubleshooting procedures, drawing updates, operation procedures, and maintainability improvements.
  • Support systems engineering activities with subject matter expertise.
  • Establish and maintain a filing system, databases, and logs for tracking project status and inventory.
  • Direct on-site customer interface for equipment/systems installation, testing, survey, fabrication, and other engineering tasks as needed.
  • Comply with engineering documentation standards, engineering plans, and system specifications and test procedures.
  • Provide technical data and evaluation for components, equipment, and systems consistent with engineering plans, layout, and contract requirements.
  • Serve as senior/lead technician and assist in the training of other technicians.

Requirements

  • Must have an Active Secret US Government Clearance.
  • Five (5) years of practical experience and High School diploma/GED OR Three (3) years practical experience and an Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology, math, or science; or Formal electronics training from Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications; or four-year electronics apprentice program.
  • Submarine Combat Systems equipment experience is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with network configuration and BYG-1 combat control system is preferred.
