About the position

The Backyard Sports After School Sports Instructor position is a part-time role focused on coaching and instructing youth in various sports. The instructor will work with children of all ages, leading sports programs and ensuring a safe and engaging environment. The role requires planning age-appropriate curriculum and managing equipment, while fostering positive relationships with participants.

Responsibilities

• Plan age appropriate curriculum/practice plans for programs/camps
• Lead or assist in running sports programs/camps
• Oversee children to ensure safety and engagement
• Encourage participants to build confidence and have fun
• Manage equipment (pick-up/drop-off and set-up/clean-up)
• Resolve occasional participant conflict and/or bring to the attention of BYS Directors to address behavioral issues
• Ensure all health and safety rules/protocols are being followed

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older to apply
• Lead Coaches: 5+ years of relevant experience
• Assistant Coaches: 2+ years of relevant experience
• Expertise in one or more sports such as basketball, flag football, baseball/softball, soccer, and PE/Camp-style games
• First aid and CPR certification preferred
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Passion for working with children
