About the position

At Boeing, we innovate and collaborate to make the world a better place. The San Antonio Manufacturing Center is seeking a painter for their Paint Center. In this role, the individual will be responsible for mixing paint, working with chemicals, and performing all the necessary preparation work required to prep parts for paint application. This position requires close collaboration with other team members, making the ability to work well with others and share responsibilities a desired attribute. Additionally, the painter will need to search and read specifications in the DPS and engineering drawings to complete assigned tasks effectively. The Aircraft Painter will coat surfaces of aircraft with paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin, or other materials using brushes, rollers, spray guns, and other devices. Responsibilities include removing old paint from aircraft using liquid paint remover and scrapers, smoothing surfaces with sandpaper and steel wool, and roughening aluminum surfaces with acid solutions to ensure paint adherence. The painter will also mask and cover portions of surfaces not to be painted and paint insignia, letters, or numerals on aircraft surfaces using stencils. This position is expected to be 100% onsite, and the selected candidate will be required to work at the San Antonio, TX location. The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required, which includes US Citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees.

Responsibilities

  • Coat surfaces of aircraft with paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin, or other materials using brushes, rollers, spray guns, and other devices.
  • Remove old paint from aircraft using liquid paint remover and scrapers.
  • Smooth surfaces with sandpaper and steel wool.
  • Roughen aluminum surfaces with acid solution and steel wool to ensure paint adheres to the surface.
  • Mask and cover portions of surfaces not to be painted.
  • Paint insignia, letters, or numerals on aircraft surfaces using stencils.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in the position responsibilities listed above.
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience sanding, taping, mixing material, and the application of paint.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2+ years' experience working on military and commercial platforms.
  • 2+ years' experience working with hazardous chemicals.
