About the position

The C&I Analytics Analyst - Geospatial Analytics role at McKinsey & Company involves working within the Geospatial Analytics team to create business insights from location-based analytical problems. The position requires collaboration with a diverse team to deliver high-quality analyses and client service experiences, utilizing various spatial toolkits and data visualization techniques. The analyst will engage in project-oriented work, contributing to both client projects and the firm's knowledge base in geospatial topics.

Responsibilities

  • Create business insights from location-based analytical problems for clients.
  • Support team workflow administration and knowledge coordination.
  • Devise and execute spatial analyses using GIS software and datasets.
  • Communicate insights to consultants and clients through written communication and data visualization.
  • Work on location strategy projects, including assessing potential acquisitions and optimizing footprints.
  • Analyze placement of EV charging infrastructure and retail expansion strategies.
  • Conduct territory design and healthcare footprint optimizations.
  • Perform client segmentations to maximize sales and optimize marketing spend.
  • Contribute to McKinsey's knowledge base on geospatial topics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics).
  • Strong command of the English language (both verbal and written).
  • 1+ years of data science experience, including academic experience and internships.
  • Knowledge of machine learning and statistical techniques (e.g., clustering, decision trees, regression).
  • Programming experience in Python and SQL is a must.
  • Familiarity with geospatial analysis and GIS tools (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Strong problem-solving and quantitative skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with R and Scala programming languages.
  • Familiarity with spatial statistics and network analysis.
  • Experience with big data processing and AWS.
