About the position

The C++ Software Developer position at Leidos involves supporting the National Security Sector by developing and maintaining software for critical systems that assist in processing travelers at U.S. ports of entry. The role requires strong expertise in C++ and experience with cloud applications, as well as the ability to troubleshoot issues in a Windows environment. The developer will work on devices such as fingerprint readers and document scanners, ensuring their integration and functionality within the system. This position also includes participation in an on-call rotation and requires occasional travel to support various testing and deployment activities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain software in C++ for critical systems supporting traveler processing.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to devices in a Windows environment.
  • Collaborate with the Device team to research and evaluate new devices.
  • Develop code and wrapper layers for devices such as fingerprint readers and document scanners.
  • Assist in testing new devices and support deployment to workstations.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to address issues or concerns related to traveler processing.
  • Support client application teams during the testing phase of new devices.

Requirements

  • Over 10 years of experience coding in C++, Java, or other Windows-type languages.
  • BS/BA degree and 10 years of related experience or Master's with 8 years of related experience; OR 6 years of related experience in lieu of degree.
  • 3+ years' experience developing cloud-ready applications and/or experience migrating applications to the cloud.
  • Experience in troubleshooting problems in a software environment.
  • Good customer interaction and communication skills.
  • Ability to document issues and resolve tickets effectively.
  • Willingness to support the contract during evenings, weekends, and holidays if needed.
  • Ability to travel to the DC area twice a month for on-site visits.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of fingerprint readers and document scanners.

  • DHS BI clearance.
  • Experience developing test cases for testing phases.
  • Experience with Google Cloud.
