About the position

The C++ Software Developer position at Leidos involves supporting critical systems for the Passenger Systems Program Directorate (PSPD) within Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The role focuses on developing and maintaining software for devices used in processing travelers at various ports of entry into the United States. The developer will work on coding in C++, troubleshooting issues in a Windows environment, and collaborating with the Device team to evaluate and deploy new devices. The position requires participation in an on-call rotation and occasional travel to support pilot projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain software in C++ for devices used in traveler processing systems.
  • Troubleshoot Windows environment issues related to the devices.
  • Collaborate with the Device team to research and evaluate new devices.
  • Assist in testing new devices and support their deployment to workstations.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to address issues or concerns associated with travelers.
  • Support testing with client application teams during the testing phase of new devices.

Requirements

  • Over 10 years of experience coding in C++, Java, or other Windows-type languages.
  • BS/BA degree with 10 years of related experience or Master's with 8 years of related experience; OR 6 years of related experience in lieu of degree.
  • 3+ years' experience developing cloud-ready applications and/or experience migrating applications to the cloud.
  • Experience in troubleshooting problems in a Windows environment.
  • Good customer interaction and communication skills, including documentation and ticket resolution.
  • Willingness to support the contract during evenings, weekends, and holidays if needed.
  • Ability to travel to the DC area twice a month for on-site visits.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of finger readers and document scanners.
  • Knowledge of different types of travel documents.
  • DHS BI clearance.
  • Experience with Google Cloud.
  • Ability to develop test cases for testers during the testing phase.
