About the position

ACTA Wine is seeking a passionate and enthusiastic CA Outside Sales & Hospitality Representative to join our team. Founded in 2021, ACTA Wine is located on 16 beautiful acres in the heart of Alexander Valley, just outside Healdsburg, CA. We pride ourselves on producing small production, world-class wines, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and our signature Red Blend, 'DEEDS'. This role is designed for individuals who not only love wine but also possess the ability to share our story and the intricacies of winemaking with visitors from around the world. The CA Outside Sales & Hospitality Representative will report directly to the Owner/Vintner and Winemaker, while also collaborating closely with the Direct-to-Consumer Manager. This position is initially part-time, with flexible working hours that align with buyer availability and our tasting room operations. The role is expected to have a 70/30 split between outside sales and estate hospitality, focusing on building relationships with trade visitors and enhancing brand presence. In addition to hourly wages, there are opportunities for gratuity and sales commissions, along with benefits such as holiday pay, sick time pay, employee discounts, and company-funded educational opportunities in viticulture, oenology, and sales and hospitality.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain rapport with wine buyers, managers, food and beverage managers, and other restaurant and store personnel.
  • Manage established territories as designated by the Owner/Vintner and Winemaker.
  • Grow the ACTA brand presence throughout the territories in alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to create multiple placements of ACTA wines within accounts, including effectively presenting new vintages and variations.
  • Submit sales orders in a timely and accurate manner, manage aging of account inventories and balances, invoicing and filing as needed.
  • Complete daily preplans, recaps, and depletion reports.
  • Manage, track and submit hours worked off-property.
  • Attend/contribute to team meetings, participate in reviewing goals and develop execution plans.
  • Carry cell phone and point of sales materials, with reimbursements for mileage, phone, and approved marketing expenses.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age to serve wine.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, such as carrying a case of wine.
  • Possess a current driver's license, maintain current auto insurance, and have a clean driving record.
  • 2-3 years of relevant winery, wine shop, outside sales, and/or restaurant sales experience is preferred.
  • A true passion for wine, particularly the why and how of winemaking.
  • Familiarity with Point of Sale Software; experience is helpful but training is available.
  • Developed written, verbal, and phone communication skills.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Flexibility for team support, educational outings, events, etc.
  • Availability for limited travel within California when needed.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in hospitality or sales within the wine industry.
  • Knowledge of viticulture and oenology.
