About the position
The CaaS SRE Engineer role focuses on leveraging infrastructure expertise to support application engineering teams. The position involves designing, building, and maintaining a next-generation infrastructure platform while ensuring optimal use of cloud services and open-source solutions. The engineer will also be responsible for improving observability and resilience of the infrastructure through automation and best practices.
Responsibilities
- Empower application engineering teams by enabling and documenting monitoring best practices.
- Advise on optimal infrastructure use.
- Design, build, maintain, and operate the next-generation infrastructure platform.
- Build tools and deploy open-source solutions to extend the platform.
- Communicate patterns and improvements that automate tasks, support stability, and improve performance.
- Evaluate and deploy cloud native open-source tools.
- Institute resilient infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code.
- Maintain and improve observability of the infrastructure platform.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support the infrastructure platform.
- Foster a collaborative environment of learning and knowledge dissemination.
- Define standard practices and tooling around new services, changes, incidents, RCA, and capacity management.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Python, Kubernetes, and Ansible.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure.
- High School Diploma or GED.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).
- Familiarity with RedHat or similar container as a service platform.
- Associate or bachelor's degree.
