The successful candidate will support an extensive digital modernization program critical to DISA. In this role, the Cable Technician Lead will utilize network cabling test equipment including network testers, copper cable testers, fiber Optical Time Domain Reflectometers (OTDRs), and fiber power meters. The technician will analyze, administer, and maintain telecommunications and network cabling infrastructure. Responsibilities include dressing, terminating, and testing cables and components, as well as the ability to work with power tools and ladders. The technician will also be responsible for testing, locating, installing, and repairing cabling infrastructure associated with trouble calls, and performing routine maintenance. Additionally, the technician will install, maintain, and repair voice and data communications systems, identify, track, and remove abandoned cable, and ensure that cables are neatly tied and bundled while maintaining safety standards. Effective communication across a team of varying experience levels and with customer leadership is essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Use network cabling test equipment including network testers, copper cable testers, fiber Optical Time Domain Reflectometers (OTDRs) and fiber power meters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in telecommunications Cable Technician experience within the DoD.
  • Certification in Fiber Optic Cable and CAT6 Cable Installation.
  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • Familiarity with BICSI rules, regulations, and standards.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems, with keen attention to detail.
