About the position

The Resident Systems Support Specialist (RS3) will provide onsite support for a Voice over IP (VoIP) modernization effort at Fort Carson, Colorado. This role involves managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the Ribbon Communications system, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with cybersecurity requirements. The RS3 will work closely with the Network Enterprise Center (NEC) and other designated government representatives to deliver technical assistance and training, ultimately fostering self-sufficiency among site personnel in operating the installed system.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the NEC or DGR in matters relating directly or indirectly to system performance.
  • Survey, analyze, evaluate, and provide technical advice/trouble resolution pertaining to the performance and functionality of the VMOD system.
  • Provide technical assistance, guidance, and training to the site NEC personnel.
  • Assist with the system administration and maintenance of the VMOD system.
  • Maintain system availability and performance, utilizing government-furnished Maintenance and Administrative Positions (MAAPs) trouble resolution tools and GFE.
  • Assist the NEC in the detection and resolution of system/component failures/errors.
  • Support routine system software and hardware installation, upgrading, updating, and replacement per the contract.
  • Perform system database backup and restore operations.
  • Administer audit trails and ID/password management.
  • Conduct first echelon maintenance including updating switch system profiles and emergency power-off procedures.
  • Modify fiber patch panels to support system requirements and maintain performance objectives.
  • Assist in emergency replacement and configuration of failed or upgraded VMOD system components.
  • Help establish a plan or SOP for O&M methods, daily practices/preventive maintenance, and training for site personnel.
  • Advise NEC personnel on warranty-related actions and assist in the preparation and shipment of defective components for repair.
  • Prepare and submit a Monthly Status Report (MSR) detailing monthly activities and system performance.

Requirements

  • Active Secret clearance is required to start.
  • Active Security+ CE certification is required for this position.
  • Experience with Ribbon Communications systems, specifically in VoIP environments.
  • Knowledge of server administration, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), and VMware.
