About the position

An Awning and Architectural Metals manufacturing company is searching for an experienced CAD Drafter/Designer/Detailer to join our team. The work location is at our corporate office in Hollywood, FL. The person in this position will work with management, sales, vendors, and engineers to develop detailed design sketches, drawings, and drafting in the Structural, Architectural, and/or landscape capacity for custom exterior structures. Field experience in construction/manufacturing is a plus but not required. The CAD Designer/Drafter will utilize CAD software such as Auto/Turbo CAD, Rhino 3D, and other related programs to produce full construction, fabrication, and installation drawing packages for specialty exterior structures in both 2D and 3D documentation. It is essential that all designs adhere to relevant codes and standards. The role requires collaboration with the internal team and other reviewing parties to create designs that meet project requirements. Additionally, the designer will conduct quality control checks to ensure drawings are accurate and meet client specifications, while maintaining organized files and documentation for future reference. The position also involves maintaining a weekly job report and attending meetings as required, with occasional travel to job sites.

Responsibilities

• Utilize CAD software such as Auto/Turbo CAD, Rhino 3D, and other related programs to produce full construction, fabrication, and installation drawing packages for specialty exterior structures in 2D and 3D documentation.
• Ensure all designs adhere to relevant codes and standards.

Requirements

• Higher learning degree or certificate(s) from CAD/Drafting educational program. Equivalent combination of experience and education can be considered.
• Understand architectural and structural drawing conventions including the ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, construction drawings/elevations/sections, specifications, finish schedules.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles and codes and standards.
• 3-5 years' experience generating 3D concepts drawings and 2D fabrication drawings.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues.
• Willingness to learn new software and techniques, examples include Sketchup, Adobe Creative Suite, and other applicable programs.
