About the position

The CAD Designer / Drafter position at Westwood Professional Services, Inc. involves performing plan production for civil engineering projects related to Transportation and Public Infrastructure. The role requires a skilled individual with over 5 years of CAD design and drafting experience, preferably in the civil engineering field, to contribute to high-level professional services for clients.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes computer aided drafting and design software to prepare construction details, design plans, reports, and meeting exhibits.
• Transfers information from engineering markups and computer files to final plans and maps.
• Visualizes and illustrates concepts or designs in 2 or 3 dimensions.
• Performs tasks under close supervision or from detailed procedures.

Requirements

• Proficient in specialized civil design applications for AutoCAD.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other widely used computer applications.
• Basic knowledge of computer file directories and usage.
• Knowledge of standard civil construction plans, details, and related documents.
• Fundamental understanding of basic civil engineering principles and design procedures, including drainage, pipe hydraulics, storm water detention, roadway and pavement layout grading, earthwork computations, and water and wastewater systems.
• Able to assist in the preparation of construction quantity and cost estimates.
• 2 year technical/associates degree.
• 5+ years of experience as a CAD Technician, Designer, or Drafter (or equivalent).
