About the position

ProcessBarron is seeking a highly skilled CAD Designer/Draftsman to join their Material Handling Engineering Department in Pelham, AL. This role involves using advanced CAD software and 3D design tools to create custom conveying equipment for various industries, including paper mills and power plants. The designer will be responsible for producing detailed drawings, layouts, and documentation to support the engineering and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Produce customer general arrangement drawings.
• Create fabrication drawings, including dimensioning, weld specifications, and machining tolerances for shop use.
• Check drawings produced by other designers.
• Perform design analysis as requested.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders regarding drawings and design information.
• Create supporting documentation for as-built designs.
• Generate drawing release transmittals and manufacturing orders for fabrication and machine shops.
• Assist in the creation of job-specific operation and maintenance manuals.
• Perform any other work as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

• 5+ years drafting experience
• Proficient in AutoCAD 2D drafting
• Structural detailing background
• Ability to read and understand shop fabrication blueprints
• Understanding of conveying equipment design or related machinery design
• Experience using Autodesk Inventor or other 3D drafting programs
• Knowledge of machining, welding, and fabrication processes
• Experience designing rotating equipment with motors, gear reducers, sprockets, and chains
• Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Problem-solving skills with simple and logical solutions
