About the position

The CAD Designer will design and prepare electronic working plans, maps, and drawings for our Life Sciences Bio-pharma client, supporting their engineering, facilities, and real estate businesses. This position will manage master and project drawing documentation, and related building asset data, for all major drawing types. This job is part of the Design function and is responsible for preparing and producing deliverables governed by client SOPs in accordance with MOC and GxP for an externally regulated industry. The role requires the designer to be onsite 5 days a week at the client facility in Elkton, VA. In this role, the CAD Designer will provide stakeholders with requested drawings and related asset data by performing drawing check-outs, revisions, and data exports for client site drawing management. The designer will prepare prints of various original plans and records for internal and external agency use. This includes reviewing updated drawings for changes using computer-aided drafting techniques, which encompasses Floor Plans, Building Flows, Ductwork, Electrical & Piping Distribution, P&IDs, PFDs, AFDs, and SLs, as well as Underground Utility Plans. The designer will gather data to complete drawings by visiting the site directly and conducting surveys of space to prepare detailed reports. The CAD Designer will also assist with the development of maps and drawings that are spatially accurate and technically correct. They will serve as the point of contact for internal and external partners to acquire details of projects, including equipment, materials, and codes. Collaboration with Site Engineers, Facility Managers, Project Managers, Occupancy Managers, and outside vendors will be essential for the management of master drawings and processing of project as-builts. The designer will collect on-site information and input it into a database to maintain current building conditions and data. Requirements

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with 3 years of relevant CAD experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Architecture, Engineering, or Facilities field of study preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and MS Office Suite is required.
  • Advanced Excel experience with pivot tables preferred.
  • Entry level skill with Building Information Management (BIM) 3D tools, specifically Autodesk Revit, is also expected to enable client digital transformation.
  • Understanding of Building Owners Management Association (BOMA) standards, National CAD Standards (NCS), and American Institute of Architects (AIA) guidelines is also very desirable.
  • Knowledge of traditional building, engineering, or facilities disciplines as it relates to drawing and data management in a corporate campus setting.
  • Organizational skills with a strong inquisitive mentality.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with additional CAD software tools.
  • Familiarity with project management software.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations related to construction and facilities management.
