About the position

The CAD Designer I position at Consumers Energy involves supporting the Electric Supply Document Management team by managing Electrical Engineering Records and providing drafting support for capital projects. This hybrid role requires candidates to work onsite three days a week and involves creating and updating drawings using AutoCAD and MicroStation software.

Responsibilities

• Create new drawings based on engineering sketches.
• Update as-built comments on construction drawings.
• Support DCR drawing updates with varying complexity using AutoCAD or MicroStation.
• Track drafting requests in the database to completion.
• Communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.
• Work independently with minimal supervision at the assigned physical work location.
• Drive to and from field sites as required.

Requirements

• Experience with CAD systems, specifically AutoCAD and MicroStation.
• Electrical drafting & design experience preferred, but Mechanical and Civil experience will also be considered.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• A 2-year Associate Degree in a scientific or technical field (48 credit hours).

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with electric utility operations.
• Experience working with ProjectWise.
