About the position

The CAD Designer II (Part Time) is responsible for supporting the engineering department by generating mechanical designs and drawings for engine and airframe installations. This role involves working under the direction of the Senior CAD Designer, maintaining engineering documentation, and converting CAD models into technical documents. The position offers flexibility in scheduling, requiring 20-30 hours of work per week during standard business hours.

Responsibilities

• Design and edit parts and assemblies from 3D CAD models developed by engineers and Senior CAD designer.
• Apply correct datum structures utilizing GD&T and inspection criteria to produce part definitions that meet engineering specifications.
• Create drawings including layout and detailing of parts and assemblies using 2D and 3D CAD tools.
• Maintain engineering documentation utilizing established engineering change management and drawing control procedures.
• Create and maintain technical documentation including bill of materials and maintenance specifications.
• Participate in project team meetings as applicable.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Senior CAD Designer or Engineers.

Requirements

• Experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD modeling program.
• Minimum 3-5 years of 3D CAD experience.
• Understanding of GD&T principles, preferably with engine parts.
• Some exposure to machining and fabrication.

Nice-to-haves

• Associate degree or equivalent experience in CAD Design or Engineering Technology.
• Aviation interests.
• Engine experience.
