About the position

The CAD Designer II position at Symbotic involves generating detailed AutoCAD system assembly drawings and construction-focused drawing sets for complex steel structures and large-scale automation systems. The role requires collaboration with various teams, including sales and engineering, and interaction with customers' architects and structural engineers. The designer will utilize their expertise in AutoCAD and structural steel components to support the development of advanced automation solutions in distribution centers.

Responsibilities

• Exhibit solid working knowledge of AutoCAD tools and techniques such as Layers, External References, Dynamic Blocks, and File Management.
• Create and manage a set of comprehensive Facility and System level drawings, including plan, elevation, and detail views.
• Exhibit fluency in both 2D and 3D layout and design assignments.
• Provide guidance, support, and expertise in design processes to team members.
• Create and release Engineering Change Orders (ECO) of Bills of Material for core structure and other supporting assemblies of the Symbotic automation system.
• Utilize knowledge of structural steel components in the configuration and system release of large steel structures, including multi-disciplinary trades such as MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing).
• Possess a team-based work ethic that exhibits a task and process driven focus as well as attention to detail and pride in work accomplished.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in the building and/or machinery industries.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience using AutoCAD.
• AutoCAD specific certification(s) a plus.
• Experience in Material Handling and/or Automation Systems a plus.
