About the position

The CAD Designer II position at Symbotic involves generating detailed AutoCAD system assembly drawings and construction-focused drawing sets for complex steel structures and large-scale automation systems. The role is integral to the Structure and System Layout team within the Core Hardware Engineering organization, requiring collaboration with various sales and engineering teams, as well as customer architects and structural engineers. The position emphasizes a strong working knowledge of AutoCAD tools and techniques, along with a focus on design processes and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Generate detailed AutoCAD system assembly drawings and construction-focused drawing sets.
• Create and manage comprehensive Facility and System level drawings, including plan, elevation, and detail views.
• Exhibit fluency in both 2D and 3D layout and design assignments.
• Provide guidance, support, and expertise in design processes to team members.
• Create and release Engineering Change Orders (ECO) of Bills of Material for core structure and supporting assemblies.
• Utilize knowledge of structural steel components in the configuration and system release of large steel structures.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary trades such as MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing).

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in the building and/or machinery industries.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience using AutoCAD.
• AutoCAD specific certification(s) are a plus.
• Experience in Material Handling and/or Automation Systems is a plus.
