About the position

SAIC is seeking a CAD Designer to support the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (CCDEVCOM), Engineering and Systems Integration (ESI) Directorate, Quick Reaction Capability (QRC) Branch. This position is on-site in Aberdeen, MD, and SAIC provides relocation assistance. The CAD Designer will play a crucial role in supporting the Information Analysis Center Multiple Award Contract (IAC MAC) and Task Order (TO) by providing expertise in research, development, assessments, adaptation, transformation, testing, integration, demonstrations, transition, fielding, sustainment, and enhancement of designated information and/or intelligence software systems. In this role, the CAD Designer will work closely with design teams to create 3D models from initial drawings and schematics in a computer environment. Collaboration with engineering and product development teams is essential to translate conceptual designs into tangible products, ensuring that all designs meet accuracy, functionality, and manufacturability standards. The designer will be responsible for digitizing, editing, and revising engineering drawings of components, parts, circuits, structures, and assemblies. Additionally, the CAD Designer will check drawing plots against project inputs for correctness and adherence to established standards. The position requires interaction with engineers to discuss model accuracy, design, drafting standards, and Engineering Change Notice (ECN) and Engineering Change Request (ECR) documentation. The CAD Designer may also perform engineering computations, mathematical calculations, determine scales, and prepare or revise specifications. Responsibilities may include preparing pattern generating or artwork tapes for mask fabrication and operating plotters to obtain circuit drawings. The designer will select and monitor vendor support for CAD engineers and technicians to ensure the use of state-of-the-art applications and equipment, promoting the expansion of applications for users. Furthermore, the CAD Designer will oversee the enhancement of software to meet company standards and practices, providing advice regarding problem areas and corrective actions to be taken. Close collaboration with design engineers and technicians is necessary to ensure project completion.
