About the position

Coastal Engineering Associates, Inc. (COASTAL) is a well-established multi-disciplined firm that has been providing surveying, engineering, planning, environmental, and construction management services since 1958. Located in the four-county region of Hernando, Citrus, Sumter, and Pasco in west-central Florida, COASTAL is currently seeking a full-time CAD Designer specializing in Land Development. This position requires a strong background in civil engineering, particularly in the design and drafting of various civil land development construction plans. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating grading plans, utility plans, roadway plans and profiles, cross sections, and other essential civil engineering documents. The role demands proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (2018 or newer) and a solid understanding of state and local municipal development codes. Candidates should have experience in design and CAD drafting for residential, commercial, and municipal projects, with a focus on land development site layouts, grading and stormwater design, utility design, and general civil infrastructure plans. Additionally, the candidate must be adept at erosion and sediment control design and possess excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team to meet production deadlines is crucial. Candidates should also be familiar with the Microsoft Office product suite, particularly word processing and spreadsheet programs. A working knowledge of land development, including roads, water, and sewer infrastructure design and planning, is essential. The ability to prepare drawings of varying complexity, from simple sketches to elaborate 3D plan sets, is required. Furthermore, the candidate should be capable of extracting information from existing ArcGIS projects, especially preliminary boundary, topographic, and drainage-related information. Proficiency in using AutoCAD Storm & Sanitary Analysis and Hydraflow for storm pipe sizing is also necessary. COASTAL offers a minimum starting salary of $52K, commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package, including a profit-sharing 401k and a company bonus plan for qualified employees.

Responsibilities

  • Design and draft grading plans, utility plans, roadway plans and profiles, and cross sections.
  • Create general civil land development construction plans.

  • Extract information from existing ArcGIS projects, particularly boundary, topographic, and drainage information.
  • Utilize AutoCAD Storm & Sanitary Analysis and Hydraflow for storm pipe sizing.
