About the position

The CAD Designer will join our Operations Department at our Annandale, NJ headquarters. This role is pivotal in transforming the results of the Solar Site Survey from the field into an optimal solar system tailored for our customers. The Designer will collaborate closely with customers, Site Surveyors, and engineering partners to devise the best solution for each project, ensuring that all designs meet the specific requirements outlined in customer contracts. This position not only requires technical skills in CAD design but also necessitates strong communication and organizational abilities to manage the workflow effectively. In this role, the Designer will draft the results of the Solar Site Survey using AutoCAD, ensuring that the designs are both functional and compliant with customer specifications. The Designer will also utilize Aurora Solar's design tool to validate system production, which is crucial for confirming that the proposed solar systems will meet performance expectations. Engaging with customers is a key aspect of this position, as the Designer will need to present designs for approval and make necessary revisions based on customer feedback. Additionally, the Designer will assist in converting engineering-approved layouts into detailed construction plans, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and ready for implementation. The Designer will also be responsible for reviewing and approving engineering plans to confirm their correctness, which is essential for maintaining project integrity. Managing the status of each project within the company's CRM system will be another critical responsibility, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed of progress and any potential issues that may arise during the design and approval phases.

Responsibilities

  • Draft the results of the Solar Site Survey in AutoCAD
  • Design the most optimal system that meets the requirements of the customer's contract
  • Create the project in Aurora Solar's design tool to validate system production
  • Work with the customer to get their approval on a system design and make revisions as necessary
  • Assist with engineering approved layouts into construction plans
  • Review and approve engineering plans to confirm they are correct
  • Manage the status of each project in company's CRM

Requirements

  • Experience in AutoCAD
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Must be motivated and ready to work
  • Ability to work independently, take direction, identify problems, develop solutions, and manage multiple tasks and projects
  • Creative thinker with the ability to make decisions and execute effectively
  • Ability to work within a team environment and provide back-up support to others as needed
