About the position

Freese and Nichols is seeking a BIM/CAD Designer to focus on the design of linear utilities, pump stations, and treatment plants for water and wastewater infrastructure projects. The role involves both project-level responsibilities, such as preparing detailed drawings and coordinating with team members, and company-level tasks, including maintaining CAD standards and participating in practice group meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Understand project requirements, scope of work, and deliverables.
  • Make independent project-level decisions trusted by engineers.
  • Provide conceptual input during project planning stages.
  • Prepare detailed and layout drawings of complex designs.
  • Perform discipline design tasks with limited input from engineers.
  • Engage with team members in a professional and collaborative manner.
  • Coordinate design with other disciplines and manage work sharing within the team.
  • Ensure deliverables are professional and meet project requirements.
  • Perform BIM/CAD quality control on deliverables and incorporate continuous improvement.
  • Delegate and supervise tasks assigned to other Designers and Technicians.
  • Utilize company best practices for maintaining drawing files according to CAD Standards.
  • Participate in BIM/CAD practice group meetings and provide feedback.
  • Act as a liaison between CAD Managers and users to implement policies and technologies.
  • Manage local CAD libraries for discipline.

Requirements

  • 8-10 years of experience in engineering design and technical support utilizing BIM/CAD software.
  • Advanced expertise in Autodesk Civil 3D, including alignments, pipe networks, surfaces, and data management.
  • Proven ability to learn, adapt, and problem solve to produce accurate deliverables.
  • Ability to work with all levels of personnel.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
