About the position

As a Low Voltage Systems Designer, you will play a crucial role in the design and implementation of low voltage systems for various projects. This position requires collaboration with the sales and estimating teams to complete preliminary system shop drawings and final as-built drawings. Your responsibilities will include system design, calculations, submittals, and the preparation of operation and maintenance manuals as required by the customer. You will also participate in site surveys and pre-bid walkthroughs to determine the scope of jobs, which includes understanding system and project requirements on a national level. In this role, you will gather customer information to determine design requirements and prepare detailed plans and layouts from field notes, sketches, and other mark-ups. It is essential to ensure that all CAD standards and in-house standards are utilized in your work. You will convert approved design development drawings into installation and bid drawings, incorporating design changes, point-to-point wiring diagrams, and field device details. Additionally, you will participate in meetings regarding design layouts and installation requirements, collaborating closely with project management to address any installation preparation questions. Your responsibilities will also include preparing take-offs from plans and drawings for the estimating process, maintaining project drawing files and associated documentation in an orderly manner, and creating drawing templates while upholding CAD standards. You will contribute to the creation of technical manuals, illustrations, and installation documentation, and perform other duties as requested by management. Responsibilities

  • Work with the sales and estimating team to complete preliminary system shop drawings and final as-built drawings.
  • Participate in site surveys and pre-bid walkthroughs to determine job scope and project requirements.
  • Gather customer information to determine design requirements for the client and system.
  • Prepare and review plans, preliminary layouts, and detailed drawings from field notes and sketches.
  • Convert approved design development drawings into installation/bid drawings, including wiring diagrams and device details.
  • Participate in meetings regarding design layouts and installation requirements.
  • Collaborate with project management on installation preparation questions.
  • Prepare take-offs from plans and drawings for the estimating process.
  • Maintain project drawing files and associated documentation in an orderly condition.
  • Create drawing templates and maintain CAD standards.
  • Participate in the creation of technical manuals and installation documentation.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree (AA) from a two-year college or technical school or 3 - 5 years related experience and/or training.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in AutoCAD.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding construction, architectural, and electrical diagrams.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Excellent organization, follow-up, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
