About the position

As a CAD Designer at HOERBIGER Corporation of America, you will be integral to the design and development of high-precision products in a fast-paced Engineer-to-Order environment. This role involves creating detailed 3D models, assemblies, and technical drawings while collaborating closely with engineers and project managers to meet project specifications and industry standards. The position requires frequent communication with product engineers and manufacturing personnel to solve complex design problems and improve processes.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze engineering sketches, specifications, and related data to determine design factors such as size, shape, and arrangement of parts.
  • Create production-ready drawings and supporting 3D solid models, checking dimensions, materials, and relationships of parts.
  • Ensure adherence to product design standards by following internal and international standards such as ISO or ANSI.
  • Modify product designs to correct deficiencies or reduce production problems.
  • Utilize knowledge of machines, engineering practices, and manufacturing materials to complete drawings.
  • Maintain and support the use of the ERP system, ensuring accurate Bills of Materials and documentation.
  • Contribute to local design documentation by updating and creating new content in Wiki Pages.

Requirements

  • AA/AS or equivalent from a 2-year college or technical school with at least 2 years of mechanical design experience.
  • Technical or vocational program completion with a focus in design and drafting with at least 2 years of mechanical design experience.
  • 3-5 years of mechanical design experience.
  • Recent experience designing high precision products and components.
  • Ability to read and interpret standard engineering drawings in Imperial and Metric units.
  • Excellent 3D design skills using software such as Inventor, SolidWorks, or Creo.
  • Solid computer skills including basic technical skills in Microsoft Office and experience with ERP systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Basic knowledge of modern machining tools and processes (Milling Machines and Lathes).
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
