About the position

As a CAD Designer at ENTRUST Solutions Group, you will play a crucial role in the Engineering Plan Development process, specifically focusing on the preparation of Permit Packages for submission to relevant agencies. Your primary responsibility will be to draft permit sketches that adhere to agency-specific criteria for non-estimated work, ensuring that all necessary details, such as the face of curb and distances, are accurately represented in the construction plans. You will utilize AutoCAD to create these detailed drawings, which are essential for the acquisition of permits required for various projects. In addition to drafting, you will leverage tools such as SAP, Salesforce, and GIS to assess the impact of proposed work on public rights-of-way (ROW). This includes selecting the appropriate Traffic Control Plan and obtaining necessary permits, such as encroachment and building permits. Collaboration is key in this role; you will work closely with internal stakeholders and local agencies to provide updates on the permit process, tracking each permit from pre-submittal through to restoration and closure in SAP. You will also be responsible for creating and running Salesforce reports that are pertinent to the encroachment permitting process. Monitoring changes in the permit process and identifying bottlenecks will be part of your duties, as you will need to implement solutions to ensure timely project mobilization. Effective communication with the Job Owner, Project Manager, and construction crew foreman regarding any specific requirements or changes on approved permits is essential, and you will be expected to update records in both SAP and Salesforce accordingly.

Responsibilities

• Put together Permit Packages to submit for approval to the appropriate agencies.
• Assist in Engineering Plan Development using AutoCAD.
• Draft permit sketches to scale according to agency-specific criteria for non-estimated work.
• Add face of curb, distance to face of curb, and other miscellaneous requested details from agency to construction plans for permit acquisition.
• Utilize SAP/Salesforce, GIS, and construction drawings to determine the impact on public ROW.
• Select appropriate Traffic Control Plan and acquire necessary permits (encroachment, building).
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and local agencies, providing permit updates.
• Track permit from pre-submittal to restoration/permit close in SAP.
• Create and run Salesforce reports applicable to encroachment permitting process.
• Monitor permit process changes and bottlenecks, implementing solutions for timely project mobilization.
• Communicate to Job Owner / Project Manager, GC FE or M&C crew foreman any specific or new/different requirements on the approved permit.

Requirements

• Associates degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience with Engineering Plan Development.
• Experience with AutoCAD.

Nice-to-haves

• Underground Construction Background, preferably in Utilities - Gas or Electric.
