About the position

The Low Voltage Systems Designer is responsible for collaborating with sales and estimating teams to create preliminary and final system drawings, ensuring compliance with customer requirements. This role involves site surveys, customer information gathering, and the preparation of detailed drawings and documentation necessary for project execution.

Responsibilities

• Work with the sales and estimating team to complete preliminary system shop drawings and final as-built drawings.
• Participate in site surveys and pre-bid walkthroughs to determine job scope and project requirements.
• Gather customer information to determine design requirements for the system.
• Prepare and review plans, preliminary layouts, and detailed drawings using CAD standards.
• Convert approved design development drawings into installation/bid drawings, including wiring diagrams and device details.
• Participate in meetings regarding design layouts and installation requirements.
• Collaborate with project management on installation preparation questions.
• Prepare take-offs from plans and drawings for the estimating process.
• Maintain project drawing files and associated documentation in an orderly manner.
• Create drawing templates and maintain CAD standards.
• Participate in the creation of technical manuals and installation documentation.

Requirements

• Associate Degree (AA) from a two-year college or technical school or 3-5 years of related experience and/or training.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in AutoCAD.
• Proficient in reading and understanding construction, architectural, and electrical diagrams.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively.
• Excellent organization, follow-up, written, and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
