About the position

Golden State Lumber is seeking a full-time CAD Designer to create and revise detailed electronic working plans, charts, and scale drawings for manufacturing and engineering projects. This role requires collaboration with the Sales team and involves maintaining organized archives of CAD files and providing technical support to junior designers. The position is onsite and emphasizes a strong company culture that values employees and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Create and revise detailed electronic (CAD) working plans, charts, and/or scale drawings for manufacturing and engineering projects from preliminary concepts, sketches, specification sheets, and other data.
  • Optimize design concepts using a thorough understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and construction methods.
  • Collaborate with the Sales team to ensure coordinated project execution.
  • Review and modify designs to reduce production deficiencies and ensure adherence to industry standards and regulations.
  • Maintain organized archives of all CAD files, technical drawings, and related documentation.
  • Assist in the estimation of costs and materials required for project completion.
  • Stay updated with the latest CAD design software, tools, and industry best practices.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior designers and other team members.
  • Attend project meetings and provide updates on design progress, challenges, and solutions.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in CAD Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in CAD design, preferably within the construction or manufacturing industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar.
  • Strong technical drawing and drafting skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Good understanding of materials, construction methods, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under tight timelines.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
