About the position

The CAD Designer position at a large utility in Jackson, MI involves creating and updating engineering drawings using AutoCAD or MicroStation. The role includes managing electrical engineering records and supporting drafting and configuration management for capital projects. This is primarily an office-based role with occasional fieldwork, and it is a contract position expected to last for 12 months with potential for extension or temp-to-perm opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Manage Electrical Engineering Records for Electric Distribution & Generation Operations teams.
• Coordinate record management during capital project execution with Engineering and Enterprise Project Management.
• Lead efforts related to drafting support for the Engineering team.
• Manage Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) Standards.
• Contribute to delivering the capital investment strategy for the company.
• Maintain configuration management for Operations team members.
• Create new drawings based on engineering sketches using AutoCAD or MicroStation.
• Update construction drawings with as-built comments.

Requirements

• Proficient in CAD systems (AutoCAD & MicroStation).
• Experience with ProjectWise.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• 2-year Associate Degree in a scientific or technical field (48 credit hours in scientific or technical subjects).
