About the position

We are seeking a CAD Designer/Estimator for a mechanical contractor in Sidney, OH. This role involves creating detailed plumbing and HVAC drawings using CAD software, assisting with 3D coordination on large construction projects, and working closely with engineers and other trades to meet job specifications. The position offers an opportunity to learn plumbing and HVAC estimating, making it suitable for candidates willing to develop their skills in these areas.

Responsibilities

• Create 2D shop and construction drawings using CAD software for plumbing and HVAC systems.
• Incorporate field mark-ups into As-Built drawings to provide closeout documents for customers.
• Assist with 3D coordination on large construction projects using Building Information Modeling (BIM).
• Collaborate with engineers and other trades to produce drawings that meet job specifications.
• Engage in plumbing and HVAC estimating, with training provided for those without prior experience.

Requirements

• Extensive working knowledge of AutoCAD is required.
• Ability to review design sketches and specifications to create technical drawings for construction.
• Experience with Navisworks or other 3D software is necessary for projects requiring 3D coordination.
• Strong communication skills to interact with customers, engineers, other trades, and installers.

Nice-to-haves

• 2+ years of experience preferred but not required; willing to teach.
• Knowledge of isometric drawings is a plus.
• Familiarity with plumbing and HVAC regulations and codes is beneficial.
• A construction background or knowledge is preferred but not mandatory.
• HVAC/plumbing background would be advantageous; must be willing to learn.
