About the position

The CAD Designer at David Yurman is responsible for creating jewelry pieces of varying complexity using Rhino CAD software. This role involves executing designs while ensuring both functional and aesthetic objectives are met. The designer will work collaboratively with senior CAD Designers and provide technical feedback on projects, contributing to the overall design process within the luxury jewelry brand.

Responsibilities

• Create basic jewelry pieces from start to finish with limited supervision.
• Develop more complex projects and forms under clear direction and supervision.
• Implement various stone setting techniques in CAD with supervision.
• Provide input on project timelines and translate design concepts into physical pieces within established time frames.
• Collaborate with senior CAD Designers on technical aspects of projects.
• Review Vendor CAD files for technical viability and provide concise feedback to strategic partners.

Requirements

• Minimum 3-5 years of CAD experience specific to jewelry.
• Knowledge of intermediate jewelry construction and precious metal properties.
• Proficient in creating solid, workable polysurface files.
• Working knowledge of mechanisms such as hinges and clasps.
• Experience with rapid prototyping machines is a plus.
• Proficient in Rhino CAD software and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to read and interpret design rendering and engineering documents.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with 3-D Coat or comparable sculpting software.
• Four year BA or BS degree in Design with an emphasis in 3-D Jewelry Design or equivalent work experience.
