About the position

The CAD Developer at Tiffany & Co. plays a crucial role in supporting New Product Integration projects by creating and maintaining CAD models and technical artwork. This position involves collaboration with various teams to ensure that designs meet manufacturing standards and timelines, ultimately contributing to the production of high-quality jewelry products. The CAD Developer will utilize advanced CAD software to develop prototypes, manage design documentation, and lead discussions on technical aspects of CAD development.

Responsibilities

  • Support and facilitate all aspects related to New Product Integration projects.
  • Create and maintain 2-D and 3-D design standards, specifications, and templates using CAD software.
  • Prepare engineering and design documentation, and maintain shared files.
  • Create drawings for components and translate designs into 3D models for jewelry manufacturing.
  • Ensure all models follow industry best practices and manufacturing standards.
  • Provide initial CAD direction on component breakout and methods of fabrication.
  • Review designs with manufacturing counterparts to ensure manufacturability standards are met.
  • Coordinate CAD drawings for sample fabrication to support new product development.
  • Provide timely CAD solutions to complex mechanical problems throughout the production lifecycle.
  • Maintain CAD archives using revision control software to support ECN processes.
  • Establish and monitor project timelines, communicating potential barriers promptly.
  • Attend New Project Team meetings to offer expertise during conceptual product development.
  • Support NPI project management teams and lead CAD discussions as needed.
  • Partner with internal and external teams on technical aspects of CAD development.
  • Manage the Rapid Prototype lab and keep management updated on progress.
  • Research and operationalize innovative processes during the design lifecycle.
  • Champion best practices in process improvement for manufacturing ability.
  • Develop and enhance CAD workflows and communication tools as needed.
  • Remain current with industry standards related to CAD and manufacturing processes.
  • Work with IT and management to implement and troubleshoot CAD technology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or related industry experience.
  • Portfolio or website link depicting relevant design work.
  • Knowledge of Jewelry Manufacturing and CAD Design Tolerances.
  • Expertise in Rhino software and Jewelry Design.
  • Proficiency in solid modeling software and Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office packages.
  • Ability to work independently and possess good communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret scientific and technical documents.
  • Innovative thinking and up-to-date with technology.
  • Good interpersonal skills and a team player.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with GrassHopper, Solidworks, and AutoCAD.
  • Formal metalsmithing experience and/or training.
  • Experience with photorealistic rendering software.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing-type setting.
  • Creative design training and experience with a high degree of aesthetic sensibility.
