About the position

The CAD Drafter / Designer position is a solid foundation for a career in architecture, process equipment/piping design, and facility design. The role adequately creates drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software both in 2D and 3D formats in designing mechanical, electrical, piping, plumbing, and equipment layouts for our design build food and beverage process facility projects. The role will require knowledge in areas of architectural concepts, practices, regulations, standards, and building materials.

Responsibilities

  • Create design drawings with CAD software both in 2D and 3D formats, at the direction of Engineers and more Senior Designers
  • Coordinate with Designers, Architects, Engineers, and Project Managers to produce design drawings per project specifications.
  • Read architectural drawings, mechanical/electrical/plumbing drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), equipment layouts, and piping plans.
  • Analyze available information to determine and plan the best approach to develop and complete design drawings
  • Ensure drawings comply with building regulations and architectural standards
  • Prepare documents to a level consistent with set quality standards while maintaining project schedules
  • Take responsibility for the development and coordination of small drawings sets.
  • Work with client and engineering disciplines to define requirements in the preparation of design and construction documents
  • Check finished drawings against markup and CAD Standards
  • Manage multiple tasks and meet established deadlines
  • Work with BIM360, Navisworks and MS Office (Outlook, Word and Excel), CAD, AutoCAD 2020 and Plant 3D
  • Assist Construction Managers with coordination issues in the field.
  • Research CAD drafting / designing best practices

Requirements

  • Sophomore, Junior or Senior pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Design or a related field.
  • GPA = 3.0 (minimum)
  • Work or school experience in a computer-aided drafting and design setting
  • Work or school experience in AutoCAD, Plant3D, CADWorx or similar programs

Nice-to-haves

  • Revit and Inventor experience a plus
  • Experience with design of Food and Beverage processes a plus
