About the position

The CAD Drafter/Designer position at R3 Retail Development involves creating detailed shop drawings for building control projects. The role requires managing drawing files, coordinating with partners, and converting design notes into working documents. The ideal candidate will have experience in drafting, particularly in mechanical or electrical engineering, and will be responsible for maintaining quality and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Generate working shop drawing sets for building control projects.
  • Manage the drawing file library and ensure all documents are updated and organized.
  • Coordinate with partners on customer projects.
  • Convert design notes and sketches into working documents and details.
  • Review engineering drawings from architects and consultants for work assignments.
  • Create detailed energy management system/building controls drawings using prototype standards.
  • Support Project Managers with shop drawings, details, and flow diagrams.
  • Manage all drawing file production, storage, and distribution to ensure correct revisions are maintained.
  • Manage 3rd party vendors to meet output demands.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in technical drafting or drafting certifications; work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 3+ years' experience in a drafting role, preferably in a mechanical or electrical engineering field.
  • Experience working with AutoCAD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a design team and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to read Architectural and MEP drawings, equipment specification sheets, and schematics.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word & Teams) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Working knowledge of building mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems is a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve and maintain quality and efficiency standards in a high-volume work environment.
