The CAD Designer position at Actalent involves performing design work for electric and/or gas new construction, capital maintenance, or system improvements. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including project initiation, preparation of new improvement designs, cost estimates, and contracts. The CAD Designer will establish project-specific business relationships and guide customers through the company's New Business Process. A key focus of this position is to identify customer needs and expectations for new business utility design related to electric and/or gas projects, while maintaining a thorough understanding of company standards, tariffs, and regulations. In this role, the CAD Designer will be responsible for creating and delivering preliminary estimates, ensuring that designs are cost-effective and compliant with all regulatory requirements. The designer will serve as the central point of contact for both internal and external customers, including developers, contractors, engineering firms, local agencies, and utilities, from the inception to the completion of assigned projects. A significant aspect of the job is to enhance external customer satisfaction by effectively communicating and managing expectations throughout the project lifecycle. Additionally, the CAD Designer will prepare and present financial agreements to customers, ensuring that contracts are comprehensive and accurate. This may involve conducting pre-construction meetings with Electric and Gas Inspectors, General Foreman, and Area Service Managers as necessary. The role may also require participation in an after-hours rotational on-call supervisor program and assisting in restoration activities during storms or other emergencies, highlighting the need for flexibility and responsiveness in this position.
