About the position

Anderson, Rowe & Buckley (AR&B) is looking for an entry-level CAD Drafter/Designer to join their engineering team in San Francisco. This role involves working closely with engineers to create detailed AutoCAD 2D plans and schematics for mechanical, plumbing, and fire sprinkler systems. The position offers growth potential and includes opportunities for on-the-job and off-site training.

Responsibilities

• Develop and produce detailed AutoCAD 2D plans and schematics for mechanical, plumbing, and fire sprinkler trades.
• Assist in load calculations as needed.
• Conduct quality control by reviewing drawings for accuracy, errors, and omissions.
• Review equipment submittals for compliance with specified models/sizes as shown on plans.
• Compare updated architectural drawings to assess scope impact and maintain document control.
• Perform job site visits as required.
• Submit permit plans to building departments.
• Maintain and update as-builts and job archive log.

Requirements

• Experience with AutoCAD is required; Revit experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with Carrier Block Load or equivalent software is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) is necessary.
• Understanding of construction terminology and nomenclature is a plus, but not required.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, mechanical, and structural plans is a plus, but not required.

Nice-to-haves

• Construction experience is a plus.
• Mechanical Engineering degree is a plus, but not required.
