About the position

The Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Drafter III position at Chickasaw Nation Industries involves supporting the Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I)/Information Technology (IT) electronic systems equipment and infrastructure. This role is crucial for the design, installation, configuration, and transition to operations of IT infrastructure across multiple facilities. The CAD Drafter III will be responsible for a variety of tasks including the design, installation, termination, testing, and documentation of desktop devices, peripherals, IT cable plant, and power distribution units (PDU). The work will be conducted in classified office spaces, IT data centers, and telecommunications spaces, adhering to government installation design plans and the NIWC Pacific Shore Installation Process Handbook. The position requires a strong understanding of telecommunications, AV, and cabling, as well as the ability to create detailed drawings and schematics from specifications, layouts, blueprints, and sketches. The CAD Drafter III will utilize the latest versions of AutoCAD and Revit to prepare technical drawings and will coordinate with engineers and designers to ensure project completion. This role demands a high degree of precision and attention to detail, as the drafter will be responsible for updating redlined drawings and creating final deliverable packages for clients. In addition to technical skills, the position requires effective communication abilities, both written and oral, as well as strong organizational skills. The CAD Drafter III will be expected to manage their workload effectively, work independently and as part of a team, and remain current with technological developments in the field. The role is essential for ensuring that all designs meet established specifications and standards, contributing to the overall success of the projects undertaken by the company.

Responsibilities

  • Provides computer-aided design drafting, prepares drawings and schematics from specifications, layouts, blueprints, and sketches.
  • Utilizes CAD software and other techniques to prepare technical drawings.
  • Coordinates and consults with engineers and designers to complete projects.
  • Transforms initial rough product designs into working documents using CAD software.
  • Reviews engineering drawings and designs for adherence to specifications and standards.
  • Collaborates with departmental leads to resolve discrepancies between original and final CAD designs.
  • Creates, modifies, and provides telecommunications drawings and schematics by automated and manual methods.
  • Uses drafting procedures and technical specifications to ensure accuracy in drawings.
  • Prepares drawings showing telecommunication outlet placement, IT room layouts, and rack elevations.
  • Updates redlined drawings from the field to create final client deliverable packages.

Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain a current TS clearance; SCI eligibility is highly preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Qualified in the use of the latest version of AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Familiar with Telecommunications, AV, and Telecommunications Cabling.
  • Knowledge of General Engineering Guidelines and Design for OSP and ISP Spaces.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to grasp instructions quickly.
  • Self-motivated with demonstrated ability to manage workload and time effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
