About the position

The Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Drafter III position at Chickasaw Nation Industries involves supporting the Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I)/Information Technology (IT) electronic systems. This role is crucial in the design, installation, configuration, and transition to operations of IT infrastructure across multiple facilities. The CAD Drafter III will be responsible for a variety of tasks including the design, installation, termination, testing, and documentation of desktop devices, peripherals, IT cable plants, racks, and power distribution units (PDUs). The work will be conducted in classified office spaces, IT data centers, telecommunications spaces, and newly constructed secure buildings, ensuring compliance with government installation design plans and the NIWC Pacific Shore Installation Process Handbook. The position requires a strong understanding of telecommunications, AV, and cabling, as well as general engineering guidelines for both Outside Plant (OSP) and Inside Plant (ISP) spaces. The CAD Drafter III will utilize the latest versions of AutoCAD and REVIT to create and modify technical drawings, schematics, and illustrations. This role involves close collaboration with engineers and designers to ensure that all drawings adhere to established specifications and standards, and to resolve any discrepancies that may arise during the drafting process. In addition to technical skills, the CAD Drafter III is expected to manage their daily activities effectively, maximizing personal output while adhering to company policies and supervisor instructions. Continuous self-development through available training opportunities is also emphasized in this role. As a federal contractor, CNI maintains a drug-free workplace and requires all personnel to possess a current TS clearance, with SCI eligibility being highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides computer-aided design drafting, prepares drawings and schematics from specifications, layouts, blueprints, and sketches.
  • Utilizes CAD software and other techniques to prepare technical drawings, ensuring proficiency in the latest versions of AutoCAD and REVIT.
  • Coordinates and consults with engineers and designers to complete projects effectively.
  • Transforms initial rough product designs into working documents using CAD software.
  • Reviews engineering drawings and designs for adherence to established specifications and standards.
  • Collaborates with departmental leads to resolve discrepancies between original and final CAD designs.
  • Creates, modifies, converts, and provides telecommunications drawings, figures, illustrations, and schematics using automated and manual methods.
  • Employs drafting procedures, processes, technical specifications, and engineering parameters to ensure accuracy in drawings.
  • Works with engineers and designers to prepare detailed drawings showing telecommunication outlet placements, IT room layouts, rack elevations, and connectivity one-line drawings.
  • Updates redlined drawings from the field to create a final client deliverable package.
  • Plans daily activities to maximize personal output within company policy and supervisor's instructions.
  • Engages in self-development by participating in training opportunities provided by the company.

Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain a current TS clearance; SCI eligibility is highly preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Qualified in the use of the latest version of AutoCAD and REVIT and other technical drafting/illustration software.
  • Familiarity with Telecommunications, AV, Telecommunications Cabling, General Engineering Guidelines, and Design for OSP and ISP Spaces.
  • Associate's degree in drafting or a related field from a technical or community college and a minimum of 3 years' relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
