About the position

The CAD Drafter (Inventor) position at Met Weld International involves working within the Engineering Department to design and draft products for various industrial applications. The role focuses on creating detailed drawings and specifications using CAD software, collaborating with a design team, and ensuring high-quality standards in product development.

Responsibilities

• Designs products such as engines, machines, instruments, controls, or robots.
• Works with a design team to create design sketches, layouts, and plans.
• Uses computer-assisted design (CAD) software to create preliminary and detailed drawings of the product.
• Produces specifications for products and chooses raw materials and components to be used in production.
• Builds models and prototypes of the product and tests the design.
• Studies the test data and makes comparisons with similar designs.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Inventor CAD software is required.
• Attention to detail with strong analytical, problem solving and conceptual thinking skills.
• Excellent mechanical and technical skills.
• Ability to be flexible, motivated, resourceful and organized in a multi-functional role.
• Solid communication, organization and time management skills.
• Ability to handle multiple projects at varying stages of completion simultaneously.
• Prior experience interfacing with a quality management system, ISO9001, NQA-1, etc. is a plus.
• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and cost estimating.
