About the position

The CAD Drafter position at a leading towboat manufacturer involves supporting the Product Development Engineering team by performing CAD drafting duties. The role focuses on creating CAD models, drawings, and collaborating with multi-discipline teams to ensure the successful implementation of new products and designs. The CAD Drafter will also engage in problem-solving and continuous improvement efforts for product designs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare CAD models of assemblies, parts, and drawings for new products and production requests.
• Coordinate CAD development and implementation of new products and designs with multi-discipline teams.
• Ensure CAD needs are met by working closely with production teams.
• Self-check work for completeness, accuracy, and compliance to standards.
• Work from drawings, sketches, physical parts, computer models, or scanned images.
• Solve complex problems and conduct root cause analysis.
• Assist in new product design and continuous improvement of boat product designs.
• Provide cross-departmental support and effective communication regarding responsibilities.
• Evaluate CAD of new system components to ensure proper functionality of products.
• Manage and coordinate multiple projects, keeping them on time and on budget.
• Collaborate with outside vendors/suppliers for product design feedback and testing results.

Requirements

• Post secondary school training in drafting (2-4 year technical certificate or degree from an accredited institution preferred).
• Minimum of three years of experience preparing drawings of differing scales of difficulty.
• Minimum of three years of experience in SolidWorks and AutoCAD required.
• Experience in NX preferred.
