About the position

The CAD/Drafter position at Versar, Inc. involves supporting multiple office renovation projects, primarily focusing on furniture relocation and arrangement for the Pentagon. The role requires transforming project manager notes and rough sketches into formal working drawings, developing moderately complex 2-D drawings, and conducting site visits to validate office spaces. The position is fast-paced and requires the drafter to be located in the National Capital Region (NCR) and available to work onsite at the Pentagon.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with project managers and customers to ensure a coordinated design.
• Apply standard drafting/design principles and theories to complete assignments.
• Update project drawings based on conducted site surveys of office space within the NCR.
• Compile data and perform dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings.
• Make required changes, additions, and/or revisions as directed by project managers.

Requirements

• Five (5) years or more of relevant experience is required.
• Must have a Secret clearance and be able to obtain and maintain federal government project site and systems accesses.
• Experience using AutoCAD software to prepare plans from rough sketches and/or from general engineering and design information according to established standards and procedures.
• Must have DoD experience, preferably with the Air Force.
• Successful results of preemployment screenings, including federal background check, MVR, and drug screen.
• Comply with company drug and alcohol policy.
• Be authorized to work in the US or will be authorized by the successful candidate's start date.

Nice-to-haves

• Associates or equivalent technical degree or certificate of completion from an accredited designer/drafter course (or equivalent) is preferred.
• Prior federal project experience with related codes and specifications is preferred.
