About the position

Ultimate Top Drives Inc. (UTD Inc.) is seeking a SolidWorks CAD Drafter to join our Engineering Team at our manufacturing facility in Selma, TX. As a CAD Drafter, you will play a crucial role in collaborating with various departments including Sales, Manufacturing, Production, Project Managers, Stakeholders, and the Engineering team to create and maintain all technical documentation necessary for the manufacturing of our specialty hunting vehicles. In this role, you will be responsible for operating SolidWorks Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to produce 3D models and production-ready drawings. You will also utilize Microsoft Word to develop specification sheets for off-the-shelf purchased parts, update existing drawings, and develop complete and accurate bills of materials. Coordination with production teams will be essential to ensure that designs are manufacturable and that all drawings are complete and accurate. As a CAD Drafter, you will create solid models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks, working under the direction of the Engineering Manager to support various engineering and production projects. You will consistently produce design documentation that adheres to corporate standards and best practices, modify and revise designs to enhance manufacturing efficiencies and system performance, and perform other job duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Operate SolidWorks CAD software to produce 3D models and production-ready drawings
  • Develop specification sheets for off-the-shelf purchased parts using Microsoft Word
  • Update existing drawings as necessary
  • Create complete and accurate bills of materials
  • Coordinate with production to ensure designs are manufacturable and drawings are complete
  • Create solid models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks
  • Support engineering and production projects under the direction of the Engineering Manager
  • Produce design documentation that conforms to corporate standards and best practices
  • Modify and revise designs to improve manufacturing efficiencies and system performance
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks software
  • Ability to understand and edit top-down (or in-context) assembly models
  • Ability to navigate Product Data Management (PDM) software (preferred)
  • Ability to create drawings suitable for manufacture
  • 3-5 years of SolidWorks experience (preferred)
  • 1-3 years of AutoCAD experience (preferred)
  • 1-3 years of Autodesk Inventor experience (preferred)
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes used in steel fabrication and electrical assemblies
  • Detail-oriented approach to accuracy and completion of projects
  • Proficiency in both oral and written communication in English
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, and Excel; ability to type 40+ words per minute is a benefit
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to adhere to company policies and procedures
