About the position

The CAD Drafter position is a full-time contract role based in the St. Joseph, MO area, specifically designed for individuals with a strong proficiency in SolidWorks. This role is temp to perm, meaning that there is potential for the position to transition into a permanent role based on performance and business needs. The CAD Drafter will be responsible for collaborating closely with design engineers to create and refine general arrangement drawings, which are essential for the fabrication and assembly processes. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of industry standards and customer specifications, enabling them to produce high-quality drawings that meet project requirements. In this role, the CAD Drafter will create detailed assembly and parts drawings that are crucial for fabrication, welding, and assembly purposes. This includes assigning part numbers to various assemblies and components, as well as preparing comprehensive raw materials lists for the purchasing department. The CAD Drafter will also interact with plant supervisors to clarify any drawing details during the fabrication process, ensuring that all aspects of the design are accurately represented and executed. This position requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, as collaboration with engineers and supervisors is a key component of the job.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with design engineers to develop general arrangement drawings from sketches, existing drawings, and electronic images.
  • Create detailed assembly and parts drawings for fabrication, welding, and assembly purposes.
  • Assign part numbers to assemblies, purchased components, and other relevant items.
  • Prepare comprehensive raw materials lists for the purchasing department.
  • Interact with plant supervisors to clarify drawing details during the fabrication process.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply industry standards and customer specifications.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a related field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in designing and detailing bulk material conveyance equipment.
  • Experience in mechanical component and equipment assembly detailing.
