About the position

As a CAD Drafter at Life Cycle Engineering (LCE), you will play a crucial role in providing technical expertise for design packages related to shipboard habitability spaces. This position involves collaboration with engineers and designers to develop accurate and effective design solutions for various US Navy surface ship platforms, ensuring compliance with drafting standards and facilitating site surveys.

Responsibilities

• Compare drawings to drafting standards and review for form, fit, and function.
• Participate on field and ship check teams to perform site surveys to document conditions and facilitate accurate Ship Installation Drawing development.
• Design space arrangement using ship-check sketches, as-built, standards, and other reference material in support of the Habitability Improvement Program.
• Develop Ship Installation Drawings in AutoCAD.
• Use Microsoft Office and AutoCAD to support design tasking.
• Create figures and illustrations for engineering presentations, proposals, and reports.
• Collaborate with design team members.

Requirements

• Associates degree in Drafting or Engineering-related field preferred.
• Minimum five years of drafting experience.
• Experience with AutoCAD required.
• Ability to interpret, analyze, and present technical information using practical judgment.
• Capable of functioning effectively in a team environment.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of commercial/industrial standards associated with the design of industrial equipment and systems.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience developing mechanical and/or electrical fabrication drawings.
• Knowledge of Naval, ABS, and other marine standards associated with the design of shipboard systems.
