About the position

The CAD Product Designer/Draftsman will be responsible for creating and modifying tank designs for a stainless steel tank manufacturer. This role requires proficiency in SolidWorks for both 2D and 3D modeling, ensuring that designs meet industry standards and client specifications. The designer will collaborate with project estimators and managers to optimize designs and assist in quoting complex projects, while also maintaining organized documentation of all design files and revisions.

Responsibilities

• Create appropriate tank designs according to customer requirements using 2D and 3D modeling in SolidWorks.
• Assist Project Estimator and Project Manager in modifying tank designs to achieve customer satisfaction.
• Interpret Customer Data Sheets to produce cost-effective and functional tank designs.
• Modify existing tank designs to suit customer requirements.
• Assist Project Estimator/Project Manager in accurately quoting complex tank designs.
• Learn the basics of Compress software to assist in ASME Code Calculations for appropriate tank and/or heat transfer designs.
• Interact with Welders/Fabricators to achieve clear and understandable drawing protocol.
• Help optimize the design and fabrication process of tanks.
• Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
• Assemble components in the design phase to visualize the final product effectively.
• Maintain organized documentation of all design files and revisions.
• Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in CAD technology.

Requirements

• Technical Degree
• 5-10 years of CAD experience preferred
• Knowledge of practical application of sound engineering principles and technology
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude
• Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion
• SolidWorks experience is a plus
• Knowledge of ASME tank calculations is a plus
