About the position
The CAD Sculptor at Skullcandy is responsible for creating high-quality 3D surface models that are integral to the industrial design process. This role requires collaboration with mechanical engineering teams to ensure that designs are manufacturable while interpreting the industrial designer's intent using advanced surface modeling tools. The position is ideal for detail-oriented individuals who can iterate quickly and possess a strong passion for 3D modeling.
Responsibilities
- Create high-quality 3D surface models for industrial design.
- Interpret and define the industrial designer's intent using advanced surface modeling tools.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineering teams to ensure manufacturability of designs.
- Quickly iterate on designs while maintaining attention to detail.
- Work closely with global engineering teams throughout product development cycles.
Requirements
- Demonstrated proficiency in Alias, Rhino, or Solidworks.
- Ability to manually manipulate or refine advanced surfaces beyond software limitations.
- Familiarity with rendering, visualization, 2D drawing, image editing, and rapid prototyping software.
- Understanding of solid modeling CAD programs.
- Strong problem-solving and creative thinking skills.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in 3D modeling.
Nice-to-haves
- Background in industrial design and/or mechanical engineering.
- Experience with manufacturing software packages.
