About the position
The CAD Specialist/Civil Designer III at AECOM is a technical role focused on grading and earthwork design, primarily for projects in the Dams, Mining, and Water Resources markets. This position involves collaboration with engineers and project managers to tackle diverse project challenges, particularly in heavy civil grading for large mines and dams. The ideal candidate will lead complex interdisciplinary civil design projects, mentor junior staff, and produce detailed calculations, drawings, and specifications.
Responsibilities
- Extensive experience with Autodesk Civil 3D through release 2022, focusing on complex surface modeling.
- Develop design criteria from general direction and sketches provided by engineers.
- Grading design and surface modeling for various dam types and mining projects.
- Prepare detailed calculation packages for earthwork quantities and reservoir storage capacity.
- Process data from various sources to build existing base surfaces.
- Manage survey and client data throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct client meetings for project kickoff and design reviews.
- Perform complex design assignments requiring judgment in resolving issues.
- Lead investigations and studies for large infrastructure projects.
- Prepare and present technical reports verbally and in writing.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree with 4 years of relevant experience or equivalent education/experience.
- Extensive experience with Autodesk Civil 3D.
- Strong technical progression within civil engineering and design.
- Comprehensive knowledge of industry standards.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with BIM360, ProjectWise, Microsoft Excel, and Google Earth.
- Familiarity with InfraWorks, Vehicle Tracking, ReCap, MicroStation, OpenRoads, OpenGround, GeoPak, Revit, NavisWorks, ESRI GIS, and Blue Marble Global Mapper.
