About the position

The Cad Technician - D28 Project Designer at The Cook & Boardman Group is responsible for a variety of drafting and design tasks, including preparing CAD drawings, submittals, and technical documentation. The role requires collaboration with project managers and customers, as well as maintaining accurate project records. The technician will also be involved in designing security projects and ensuring compliance with specifications and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare rough and detailed graphic drawings based on preliminary concepts and specifications.
• Prepare project submittal and closeout documentation as required.
• Verify project functionality post-award.
• Design security projects in AutoCAD, including devices, riser diagrams, and cabling needs.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including specifications and installation instructions.
• Collaborate with project managers and customers on any questions or concerns.
• Generate AFD submissions to the City.
• Complete project submittals, O&M, and final redline drawings.
• Coordinate with other departments to complete detailed system designs.
• Revise design drawings as required, providing as-built drawings.
• Maintain communication with engineers, contractors, project managers, and government agencies for project-related issues.
• Perform research, fieldwork, drafting tasks, and documentation system data as requested.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education/experience.
• Current and valid US driver's license.
• At least 2-4 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical operations and interpret technical instructions.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.
