About the position

Burgess & Niple is seeking a CAD Technician/Designer to support the engineering team in Dallas, TX. This role involves collaborating with engineers and project managers to produce plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates for municipal transportation and utility infrastructure projects. The position requires a strong background in CAD design and the ability to mentor junior staff while ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Support the engineering team by creating figures and construction plans for various public transportation and utility infrastructure projects.
  • Train and mentor staff in proper plan production procedures.
  • Collaborate with engineering staff on technical challenges while adhering to task performance indicators, budgets, and schedules.
  • Assist engineers and CAD designers with drafting and design tasks, including the creation and editing of technical drawings and materials for submittal packages.
  • Actively participate in municipal transportation and utility engineering projects for public agencies, counties, and municipalities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required; vocational school or associate degree in a related program preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive technical experience in CAD and plan development for transportation and utility engineering design projects.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, Civil 3D, and/or MicroStation is required.
  • Ability to take verbal direction and implement it into drawings and calculations to produce the final work.
  • Good communication skills and strong understanding of plan clarity.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable to evolving client, project, and industry needs.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
