About the position

The CAD Technician at Sinacola is responsible for performing a variety of duties related to the review and analysis of field and construction plan data, including 3D surface modeling and plan quantity verifications. This role involves working both independently and alongside other CAD team members to generate accurate survey data for field crews and machine control systems, ensuring high precision in all drawings and project alignments.

Responsibilities

• Generate accurate survey data for field crews and machine control systems.
• Track project RFI's, Change Orders, and Addendums while maintaining up-to-date field files.
• Document all CAD and plan errors for RFI's.
• Utilize current CAD platforms to create 3D surface models and calculate structures.
• Create cut/fill reports and plot exhibits for survey managers.
• Track time spent on projects for budgeting purposes.
• Create roadway corridors and prepare drawings with high precision.
• Maintain project alignments, profiles, and tie-ins.
• Utilize COGO and other survey methodologies to generate usable survey points and maps.

Requirements

• Associates or technical school degree preferred.
• Minimum of 3+ years' experience in a survey technician role.
• Ability to create and maintain 3D roadway models and calculate aspects of civil construction sites.
• Experience in a crew chief type role is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans for generating field layout data.
• Working knowledge of 3D surfaces and ability to run quantity reports.
• Self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Bilingual is a plus.
• Heavy Civil experience required.
• Familiarity with files such as LandXML, .csv, .dwg, .dgn, .ttm, .dtm, .tin, .vce, .vcl, etc.
• Knowledge of Bentley Microstation Inroads/Geopak Software.
• Basic skills in Microsoft Office products.
